Purchasing Ivy the Kiwi? will not only give you a great game but also help to save the endangered kiwis.
Rising Star's Ivy the Kiwi? is released today and they have just confirmed that 10p of each copy of the game sold will go to the official Save the Kiwi charity.
The charity, which is sponsored by the Bank of New Zealand, helps to raise awareness and funds to protect the endangered species. Helping to save the kiwi also benefits other animals within the ecosystem.
“We’re delighted to be able to announce our partnership with BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust. It’s great to be able to give something back to the bird that’s the subject of our next game – Ivy the Kiwi? – and help work towards securing its future for years to come.”- Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games.
The money raised from the game will help save New Zealand's national icon through various methods including retrieving Kiwi eggs from the wild, incubating them, rearing them and releasing them into the wild when they are ready. This helps to raise the survival rate from 5% to 65%.
Between 1998 and 2008 the number of kiwis in New Zealand shrank from fewer than 10,000 birds to 70,000. To find out more information about the Save the Kiwi charity have a look at the official website.
