News: Iwata 2006 GDC Keynote

Iwata is set to give the keynote for the Game Developer's Conference once again. The scheduled date after the jump.

A good number of gamers remember Nintendo president Satoru Iwata's 2005 GDC keynote address to an assembled developer audience. As far as speeches dwelling on the video game industry go, it was a moving one. In his speech "Heart of a Gamer", Iwata detailed his own roots as a programmer and game developer and made clear his immense affection for the medium of video games.

Fortunately, Iwata is again scheduled to give the 2006 GDC keynote. In a speech dubbed "Disrupting Development", he will shed light on divergent development points Nintendo has been focusing on in recent years. Will more Revolution details be revealed, forward of the seminal E3 2006? As is often the case with Nintendo, there is no certainty.

What is certain is the event's scheduled time: Iwata's keynote will be at 10:30 AM PST on March 23. Count on R-E to report all the details.

Update: The GDC website has a brief rundown on the topics Iwata intends to touch on during his keynote:

In a speech entitled, "Disrupting Development," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata will reveal the backstory of how a string of recent disruptive products from Nintendo - the Nintendo DS, the Brain-Training games, and Nintendo WiFi Connection - surprised the market. He will share his thoughts on the role Nintendo's video game systems will play in expanding the market and widening the possibilities for developers.
