News: Iwata Discusses 3DS Price

Nintendo's President Satoru Iwata has recently discussed the price of the 3DS and anticipates how much the software will cost.

When details of the Japanese release of the 3DS were finally released last week some fans were surprised at the 25,000 yen price point that meant the handheld will cost as much as the Wii did upon its release.

President Satoru Iwata recently confronted this issue in an investors Q&A and stated that the price point was set by numerous factors, one of which included the enthusiastic response it received when announced at E3 earlier this year.

In addition to this he commented that the 3DS software prices will be roughly around the same as the current DS prices, although did highlight the probable increase of development costs.

"We don't believe that the world is in a state where high priced software will sell well, so we don't believe it will be in a price range too far off from current DS software."

The pricing details for Europe and America have yet to be announced but many anticipate that it will mirror the Wii's price upon release, as it will do in Japan.
