Nintendo will not stand still while competitors progress with motion-control technology, president Satoru Iwata assures...
E3 saw both Microsoft and Sony announce their own answers to Nintendo's motion-sensing revolution; and while none of those solutions are anywhere near ready for launch; Nintendo is not sitting idly by.
Speaking with Times Online, NCL boss Satoru Iwata seemed to relish in the prospect of stiff competition, and reiterated that Nintendo's R&D teams were hard at work creating the next big leap.
"So, I am not in a position to judge whether they are a threat or not [Sony/Microsoft motion technology]. And they should bear in mind that over the next year Nintendo will not be standing still. We're always at work on something new. I am actually looking forward to engaging in that sort of competition, because it gives our whole industry the chance to expand the gaming population."
Tough words indeed. Let it be noted that while this fight-talk about the future is already happening now, this Friday sees the European release of Wii MotionPlus. So if you ever doubted Nintendo wasn't up to delivering on the control front - mark that date in your diary!
