News: Iwata 'Pushing' Shigsy For Mario 128 Launch

Speaking to G4TV during the Tokyo Games Show, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata expressed his desire for the next Mario platformer to be a Revolution launch title.

Iwata-san has said he very much wants Mario to appear at the console's launch. "Personally I am pushing very strongly on Mr. Miyamoto to make Mario one of the launch titles for the Revolution," he said.

The full interview will be broadcast later today, but that excerpt is already online. This news isn't exactly new - Iwata said back at E3 he wanted Mario, Metroid, Zelda and Smash Bros. ready as quickly as possoble. But this is good news considering the drought of information on the mysterious "Mario 128".

Taking into account how long the title has been in production, and Shigsy himself saying earlier this year that the Revolution's Mario only really existed as a series of tests, its great to hear the title is fully in production.

We'll bring you news on the full G4TV interview once it has been broadcast.
