News: Iwata Talks Wii Storage, Xbox Remote & More

Nintendo company President Satoru Iwata has answered questions regarding the Wii's internal memory, the threat of Microsoft's Wii-mote copy and more...

Satoru Iwata has recently answered many burning questions in Japan, firstly that of the internal memory of the Wii. He said he was aware of a small number of people unhappy with the size of the Wii's internal memory, and that:

"...because this small number of people are none other than the most avid players, we know we have to review the best possible solution to eliminate their inconvenience."

Could a Wii hard-drive finally be on the way?

Next up, Iwata teased that "public spaces" functionality was on its way for the DS (like the use of it as a virtual guide for theme-parks, perhaps?), saying that he thought it would be good to increase the number of places where users felt it "advantageous" to bring their DS with them.

Iwata also tackled the fact that Nintendo have yet to announce anything for the second half of this year. He reassured that news was on its way, though currently it was being kept at bay - he felt that revealing information too early would only lead to it "going stale."

Finally, on the issue of Microsoft possibly releasing a rival controller to the motion-sensing Wii-mote, he said that he was aware of the rumours:

"However there is no way for us to comment on such speculations. All I can say today is, it is not that easy to develop software which leverages the characteristics of the Wii Remote. We are not concerned about what other companies may do but rather more concerned with presenting them with new ideas to our customers based on the prospect that our existing customers will surely get tired of the plays enabled by Wii Remote if we do not try to improve the experience. In other words, what matters to us is whether or not we can continue to constantly create and offer new surprises one after another."
