News: Iwata To Deliver GDC Keynote Speech

The Nintendo president will focus his address on new development opportunities.

Nintendo President Saturo Iwata will head up the keynote line-up for the Game Developers Conference, it has been announced. Iwata's speech will be entitled "Discovering New Development Opportunities".

The last appearence made by the company CEO was in 2006, where he outlined Nintendo's plan for "disrupting development", and highlighted their quest to involve new gamers in the Nintendo experience. Prior to that, in 2005, he revealed the technology powering the then-codenamed Revolution.

Event Director of GDC, Meggan Scavio, has positive words for the return of Iwata:

"The Game Developers Conference is thrilled to welcome Satoru Iwata back to the keynote stage. His previous talks at the GDC can be credited with setting the stage for much of the huge growth the games industry has since seen, and attendees continue to talk about how both lectures impacted their perspective on development."

Iwata-san's keynote address will kick off the San Francisco conference, which commences at 9am local-time on March 25th.
