News: Japanese And American VC Releases

Two new Nintendo 64 games and the addition of the Neo-Geo console to the Japanese Virtual Console...

The Virtual Console has really picked up recently and is fast becoming the definitive source for retro videogames. The past few weeks have seen Japan-only games released on the Virtual Console, Hudson announcing two new consoles to be added to the VC next month and the announcement of lost Treasure classic Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth coming to all regions.

The list of titles is strengthened this week with the updates to the American VC service. Yoshi's Story (N64 - 1000 Wii Points), the 2.5D platformer that could be considered an average sequel to the fantastic Yoshi's Island, wings its way onto the VC with the proud title of the eighth N64 game currently available. Also released: Super Thunder Blade (Sega Mega Drive - 800 Wii Points) and World Class Baseball (TurboGrafx-16 - 600 Wii Points).

The Japanese Virtual Console saw the addition of the Neo-Geo console to its already booming library of consoles and games. Fatal Fury: King of Fighters (Neo-Geo - 900 Wii Points) is the first game to be made available for the new format. It is the first game in the highly acclaimed Fatal Fury series and is also SNK's oldest fighter. Also released: Super Thunder Blade (Sega Mega Drive - 600 Wii Points) and Detana! Twinbee (PC Engine - 600 Wii Points).

Two new titles are also promised for the 20th of September in the land of the rising sun. Super Metroid (SNES - 800 Wii Points), the Super Nintendo installment of the shooter starring the legendary bounty hunter Samus Aran, who will be reappearing in the upcoming Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Sin & Punishment: Successor to the Earth (N64 - 1200 Wii Points) is also promised at a slightly higher price than other N64 games. The price for the European release is unknown, but it is possible that this increase is only in Japan, as with Ocarina of Time.
