News: Kawashima Says No To Games

The man behind Brain Training speaks...

Ryuta Kawashima, the man who was behind the hit Brain Games Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? and Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day! revealed today that he never gained a single yen from the games success and instead used the 11 million earnings to fund his research and to build a 300 million-yen lab and said "Not a single yen has gone in my pocket. Everyone in my family is mad at me but I tell them that if they want money, go out and earn it".

When asked why he didn't keep his earnings he stated "To hear this may put you off -- but my hobby is work" and he wouldn't move away anywhere since "If I had such time to spare, I want to do my research." After developing games for the DS, when questioned about video games he said that he banned his four sons from playing video games during the weekdays and allows them to play games for an hour over the weekends and that he snapped a game disc to prove his mental strength and discipline. It's also to be noted that he no longer uses his DS games to train his brain but instead says his research will do a better job.

He then went on to mention "What is scary about games is that you can kill as many hours as you want. I don't think playing games is bad in itself but it makes children unable to do what they should do such as study and communication with the family and also "Researchers, especially those in medical fields, are said to die of what they are studying. Since I've been studying the brain, I'll die of a brain disease."
