A new Pokémon game was promised to be announced by Dengeki Nintendo, but it seems they were using the term "new" liberally.
Over the last few weeks Japanese magazines have been promising the unveiling of a brand new Pokémon game. The news spread around the internet and gamers eagerly hoped for some big news, with some even believing that the next generation title will be revealed. It has been confirmed that it was all a bit of over-publicised hype.
The newest issue of Dengeki Nintendo, which alongside CoroCoro promised a new Pokémon game, states that an update to Pokémon Battrio is coming. The game is exclusively for Japanese arcades, which means unless you find yourself in Japan any time soon you won't be able to play it, and has been out for a number of years.
It would appear that new updated units are soon to be shipped across Japan and this is the "new" game Dengeki Nintendo promised. Pokémon Battrio requires you to collect real life circular chips, by purchasing them, to use in the game. The chips contain Pokémon that you use to battle and new Pokémon from Black and White will be part of the update. The upcoming issue of CoroCoro may reveal another Pokémon title, one that is actually new rather than an update, but we'll have to wait and see.
