Konami announce Contra 4 for the DS, read about it inside...

Today, Konami have announced another instalment in the Contra series, Contra 4 (Working Title), due for release on the DS in 2007.

Two years after the events of Contra III: The Alien Wars, Red Falcon, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean encounter a new extraterrestrial menace Black Viper. Joined by Mad Dog and Scorpion, you must once again wage war against an entire invading army.

Contra 4 keeps the same gameplay as previous Contra games, and this time the viewpoint spans across two screen, allowing for some massive bosses that take up both screens. You can noe grab onto the environment directly above you using the new grappling hook, allowing for more strategy than the previous games. The 2 player multiplayer mode from previous games also makes a return.
