News: Let Your Evil Side Out In Wii Shop Update

Fight back against those pesky adventures with Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord in the latest European WiiWare update.

Feeling a bit frustrated by all the unfortunate summer rainfall? If only you had an onslaught of angry adventurers to take out all that pent-up anger on... The Friday Nintendo download update is here again, and it looks like you might get your wish!

From Square Enix comes another instalment in the Crystal Chronicles series for WiiWare in the form of Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As A Darklord (1,000 Wii Points), which sees you, the diabolical daughter of a Darklord, setting up various traps around daddy's tower and unleashing terrifying monsters to annihilate hordes of adventurers in a welcome turn of the tide for the Final Fantasy series.

The SEGA Mega Drive vertical shooter Musha (900 Wii Points) is available on the Virtual Console this week thanks to the Hanabi Festival, and stars a girl named Terri on a mission to rid the world of Dire 51, a highly sophisticated computer system which has, of course, become self-aware and plans to destroy humanity. Just for once, couldn't a computer system gain sentience without exacting genocide on the entire human race?

Just missing out on the hype of the Wimbledon tournament is Smash Table Tennis (600 Wii Points), originally released for the Famicom Disk System in Japan. Mash buttons to send balls of bitter defeat back at the computer opponent, and try not to get too excited in doing so. Donkey Kong Jr. is apparently present as an audience member, probably eyeing up ping-pong fiends to kidnap and scale buildings with. Never trust a NES-era gorilla - never.

Finally, another taster game is available from Nintendo for DSiWare in the form of A Little Bit of... Puzzle League (500 Nintendo Points), which takes four single player modes from Puzzle League DS and excludes all of the local and Wi-Fi multiplayer options. If you're into devilishly addictive touch-controlled block sliding, then look no further than this cracking gem.
