Find out what developers Level 5 have in store next for the Professor Layton series, and why the games are going all Star Wars...
No, the next Professor Layton title will not be set in space. But there will be a prequel trilogy, with the fourth game in the series (Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute) set to launch this November in Japan.
According to company CEO Akihiro Hino, the new trilogy will once again "be based around solving puzzles, but will also include greatly-improved bonus modes, so I think that players will be able to enjoy the games for even longer."
Meanwhile here in Europe, after the second title in the series launched last month, the third game (Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel) which completes the original trilogy is expected to release sometime next year.
Level 5 have also confirmed there are no plans to bring the series to the Wii - but from the looks of things, they have plenty of DS development to keep them busy, not to mention an anime movie in the works - Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva - out this December in Japan.
