Play DS? Live near London? This is for you...
For those not in the UK and unfamiliar with Children in Need, it's an annual British institution where one night a year millions of pounds are raised for children, who are, erm, in need. Be that because of a disadvantaged background or because of a disability, every penny raised goes to kids who haven't had the good life you've had, if you're able to afford lots of videogames and be online to read this (this means you).
Our friends over at DS:London have another of their tournaments planned in order to raise money for Children in Need, taking place this Saturday, 17th November at The Gallery, University of London Union from 3pm. Please be aware that the event is taking place in an 18+ venue.
The afternoon will involve gamers chatting, drinking (optional) and game playing - in particular, having tournaments in Bomberman, Mario Kart and Tetris as well as having a Nintendo Iron(wo)man (a combination of the most popular DS games culminating in a knock out round of boxing on the Wii). All tournaments will be screened on projectors across the play space for spectator enjoyment as well.
Attendees will be asked to donate 2 for each tournament they plan on entering or 5 to take part in all four. A 1 donation from spectators would be appreciated. Of course, all proceeds will go to Children In Need. DS:London are old hands at meet-ups and recently participated in the London Games Festival.
For guaranteed entry you can sign up on Meetup.com, via the Facebook event or on DSLondon.net.
You may well see other N-Europe fans there...
