Promised as the "November Update" the 3DS has today finally received its new Firmware.

If you left your 3DS on last night with the Wi-Fi on you may have been greeted by the magical Blue light glowing like a beacon in your dark room on this cold winter morning. If you first guessed as to what it could mean was the new update is finally here you'd be correct. The Blue LED signalling that the update has already been downloaded to your 3DS, opening will prompt you to then instal the update taking you 3DS' firmware to version 3.0.0-5E.

If your 3DS didn't automatically download the new update overnight you can download it manually through "System Settings" then "Other Settings" and the "Update" button will be on the 4th page.

Updated features are as follows:

3DS Camera

• 3D Video Recording
• 3D Stop Motion and Time Lampse
• Reverse Playback of Videos
• You can also alter the speed and sound pitch of videos similar to music in the 3DS Music Player

StreetPass Plaza

• SpotPass Functionality Added
• New Puzzles to Collect (some parts can only be recived via SpotPass)
• StreetPass Quest 2 Added (Must complete 1st Quest to unlock)
• Achievements Added (78 in total)
• Music Player Added to listen to various tunes from the Plaza
• Slide Show Added for viewing completed Puzzle Panels
• StreetPass Map

eShop

• Ability to download Demos (no demos availble in Europe at present)
• Ability to download content while in Sleep Mode
• Ability to purchase DLC for supporting games
• "Redeem Download Code" added in "Settings/Other" options

Other Updates

• Ability to transfer eShop purchases to another 3DS system
• Improvements to the QR scanner
• Nintendo Zone (New SpotPass feature involving participating retailers with Wi-Fi Hotspots)
• Friend List Improvements (if not already recieved with Super Mario 3D Land and/or Mario Kart 7)
• Improved System Security
