Amanita Design has abandoned plans to bring Machinarium out on WiiWare, citing Nintendo's "crazy" size limits as a reason.
A year ago Amanita Design announced plans to bring adventure title Machinarium to the WiiWare service. We haven't hear much about it since then and it seems that the project has been cancelled on WiiWare.
The developers spoke to Eurogamer at GameCity6 festival in Nottingham over the weekend and the team confirmed that the WiiWare version has been scrapped. When asked for a reason behind the cancellation founder Jakub Dvorsk gave two very clear reasons:
"We don't like Wii because the resolution is so low and there is a size limit on WiiWare of 40MB, which is so low for nowadays. It's crazy."
Nintendo fans may have some glimmer of hope however as Mr. Dvorsky stated that they may bring it to the Wii U because "it will be a powerful machine and that's what we want". We'll have to wait and see if Machinarium does ever make its way onto a Nintendo console but for now check out the trailer below.
