Pokémon's main director will be making a surprise appearance on Pokémon Smash next week...

Junichi Masuda, head of the main Pokémon studio Game Freak, will be making an important announcement regarding the series next week, according to Serebii.net.

Masuda is set to appear on the Japanese TV show Pokémon Smash on Sunday 18th September, where it is expected he will reveal a new game. Without wanting to get your hopes up too high, it is quite rare for the Game Freak head honcho to reveal anything other than a major title.

Keep in mind it is also possible the hypothetical game will be first revealed at Nintendo's big 3DS conference on Tuesday, or perhaps even in the upcoming issue of Japanese magazine CoroCoro; due in the coming days.
