Surprise, surprise: Princess Peach has baked another cake...

Despite countless previous adventures saving the unlucky Princess Peach, it seems Mario is yet again to begin adventuring after circumstances interrupt his invitation for some cake...

Latest scans from Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu show the game begins with Princess Peach once again sending Mario a letter:

Dear Mario,
Do you fancy watching the shooting stars, whilst eating cake?
I'll be waiting at the castle.
Peach.

The game's storyline is also briefly touched upon:

"This is one more stardust fairytale. Only once in a hundred years does stardust fall on the mushroom kingdom. As such, Peach invites Mario to the castle to watch. On his way over, Mario spots a mysterious light. He cautiously approaches it, and finds... a small, lost baby star. The star - 'Baby Chico' - follows Mario to the castle, but what is waiting for them there is..."

This new baby star is quite possibly the Orange Luma recently added to the game's title and box art. "Baby Chico", whose name will hopefully be changed upon Westernisation of the game, can apparently use a spin attack to take out enemies.
