It was no lie that the latest installment of the Mario Kart series would be popular thanks to the expanded audience and good sales of the Wii in Europe. But what people didn't expect was just how well the title would perform.

Mario Kart Wii topped the charts all over Europe reaching first place, but in the UK, Mario Kart Wii is the eighth best selling game of all time. That's right. From the hundreds of quality titles we've recieved over the years, Mario Kart speeds in beating them all.

But just how well is the eighth best selling game? Here's some sort of idea. Take Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Strikers, Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario's first weeks sales and combine them all.
