It's like 2005 all over again...
The latest Media Create charts are out for Japan, and as expected, Mario Kart 7 reigned supreme in what was the biggest week all-round for quite a while.
It held off tough competition, but Mario Kart 7 managed some staggering sales, virtually doubling the debut entry for the mammoth-selling Mario Kart DS. Also of note is the rise of Super Mario 3D Land, holding on to some mighty figures week after week in a region notorious for big games dropping sales like a stone after their first week.
Here is the software chart for the week of November 28th to December 4th. Lifetime figures are provided where apt.

In hardware, 3DS hits a dizzying stride, whilst a big drop for Zelda doesn't preclude a surprise bump for Wii sales. Next week sees the release of Monster Hunter Tri G, so Nintendo's new handheld is looking more than a little ominous for the foreseeable future.
