Famitsu gives us a Japanese date for the game. Not too much of a wait...
Over the past couple of days some rumours have been circulating about a Japanese date for the upcoming Mario Kart for the Wii. Today N-Europe can confirm this date as April 10th 2008.
But that's not all, some details for the game have also been revealed, such as the ability to play as Miis and the confirmation of 12 player online games. Bikes will also be available to play as in Cup Mode, which racers will be able to pull off wheelies on. Famitsu re-confirmed that there will be 32 tracks available, made up of 16 new and 16 old.
So far there is no date for Europe or the US other than a vague 'Q2' release. Here's hoping Nintendo's next release list will shed some light for us Europeans.
Update: Some details have emerged of some old tracks that will be playable and also a bit about the online system. Most importantly, for those unsure about playing the game with the Wii Wheel, screenshots in Famitsu have shown that GameCube controller support will also be included!
There will be online league tables and a global ranking system, along with a local ranking system. A 'Wii Channel for online aspects' as well as the ability to send and receive time attack scores and ghosts will also be available. Confirming earlier reports, Baby Peach has also been confirmed as playable. As for the tracks, a confirmed eight of each can be found below:
