News: Mario Visits Oxford Street

Charles Martinet, voice of the porky plumber, is heading to London to appear at Oxford Street's GAME store.

Londoners will get the chance to meet the voice behind most of Nintendo's Mushroom Kingdom cast this Friday, at the store. The timing - European Wii launch details are expected on the same day - is hardly coincidental: in fact, the press releases invites readers to hang with Martinet "whilst they wait for Nintendo's official announcement of the details about their forthcoming Wii console!" We can assume there'll be some sort of platform at the GAME store for people to hear about the Wii information then - a doubly good experience for those attending.

Mario, sorry Martinet, will be around from noon until 4pm to sign some "limited edition postcards". The first 18 people to get signatures will get free copies of Super Mario Bros. DS, and the next 10 will get Mario t-shirts (how exciting).

Robert Quinn, Sales Director at GAME, said "We have secured in-store the voice of one the most recognisable video games characters to sign autographs on the day. Customers have been waiting a long time to hear specific details about the hotly anticipated console, the Nintendo Wii, so we've given them a recognisable industry figure to keep them entertained whilst they wait."

A tenner to the first person that sends me a video of the celebrity endorsing N-Europe in his delightful Mario voice.
