Two different companies have announced they are to open games devisions!
Warner Bros., the popular film company, and Marvel, the company which owns comics such as X-Men, have both announced they plan to open games devisions to make more games.
Warner Bros. have appointed Jason Hall as Senior Vice President. He is the co-founder of Monolith Productions, who have made games like No One Lives Forever series and the upcoming Matrix MMORPG.
"Although we have enjoyed success in the gaming world, we have barely scratched the surface," said Tsujihara. "By creating Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Warner Bros. Games and putting a well-rounded gaming and tech executive like Jason at the helm, we will be well-positioned to coordinate and maximize our company-wide resources and approach the burgeoning interactive gaming business as a long-term strategy."
"Historically, gaming for the Studio has been licensing driven," said Romanelli. "We have developed relationships with the best interactive gaming partners in the world and, together, we have taken the license model to new levels with the blockbuster successes of Harry Potter and Enter the Matrix. We now have the opportunity to broaden our point-of-view, diversify our business approach, bring added value to our partners that will increase our mutual successes and with Warner Bros. Games create a brand with consumers in the gaming world that is synonymous with the excellence behind the Warner Bros. Shield."
Meanwhile, Marvel has appointed Ames Kirshen as Manager Of Game Development. Kirshen has previously helped with other comic-related games, such as "Batman: Vengeance" and "Batman: Rise Of Sin Tzu" and "Superman: Shadow Of Apokolips".
"The multi-billion dollar video game industry continues to be a significant revenue opportunity for Marvel and a high-profile, powerful vehicle to build the awareness of Marvel's brands," said Gui Karyo, Marvel's President of Publishing. "Our appointment of Ames to serve as an in-house Executive Producer and creative liaison for our interactive licensees and game developers allows us to increase the quality, playability and marketing power of this influential product category, fueling higher licensing income and consumer exposure for Marvel."
