The Japanese publisher talks about its past outings on Wii, and how it's planning for the future...
Marvelous Entertainment is already planning a number of titles for Wii U, as the Japanese publisher continues to expand its western portfolio rapidly following a merger with development house AQ Interactive.
In an interview with Siliconera, producer Tomio Kanazawa said that the company was already excited about Nintendo's next console.
"For Wii U, we think it will be appreciated by casual and family gamers. We are looking forward to hearing how much it will target core gamers, as well. While we are planning titles for Wii U, in terms of how much we're going to commit to it, we're still thinking about that."
On Wii, the company has been responsible for releasing a large number of quality games, including No More Heroes, Little King's Story and Muramasa: The Demon Blade. While some of them perhaps didn't find the audience they deserved, Marvelous' Daniel Kurtz said that they could be very contented with the work they did on the platform.
"Did some titles sell as much as we wanted them to? Maybe not. But any time we look back on a title we don't wring our hands and worry about the platform and sort of point fingers or anything like that. We're proud of what we brought out on the Wii. Those are titles we very much value going forward. Whatever platform they were going to be on, they were going to be on. It's not going to be affected by their past history. We're proud of what we brought out and are looking forward to developing for a new platform."
Marvelous also handles the popular Harvest Moon series. The publisher confirmed that the franchise would be staying on established mobile platforms like the 3DS in the near future, rather than expanding onto HD consoles.
The latest Harvest Moon game, The Tale of Two Towns, is due to release on Nintendo's new handheld.
