Following poor sales Disney has laid off a large percent of their gaming staff.
According to reports potentially up to half of the 700 people who work for Disney's gaming department have been laid off following poor sales performances. CNBC is reporting that while exact details are not known there has definitely been considerable cuts.
Over the last year Disney has changed its focus from traditional hardware to other routes such as online gaming. After the acquisition of Playdom and the replacement of former head Graham Hopper with Playdom's John Pleasants some members of the industry expected big changes but it appears losses at this level are still a surprise.
This is the latest in a long line of layoffs, closures and downsizing within Disney and many are suggesting that the lower than expected sales for Epic Mickey are to blame. It is believed that Warren Spector is still employed with Junction Point.
