Meet Meetro, an advanced instant messaging program for DS and PSP with instant messenger support...
A new piece of instant-messaging software has been revealed for the DS by Nintendo Insider. The program's uniqueness is its ability to show the proximity in miles of how far away each user is from you.
"Meetro is the new dynamic way to meet people local to you." says Wendell Davis III, the project's joint-creator and ex-producer of Cave Barn Studios. "Meetro makes finding people within walking distance a breeze -- perhaps even a summer breeze."
The program will allow users to have a display picture and taglines, and will suport AIM, and ICQ, with support of MSN, Yahoo and Jabber on the way.
"We've entered an early stage of development for handheld console support, which includes both Sony PSP and Nintendo DS," co-creator Paul Bragiel (CEO of Paragon 5) says. "We see the DS and PSP as platforms that were designed to be used for applications besides games. We want to bring social software to these machines."
The software won't be released for another year, but looks set to be a hit when it does. We'll have more news on this as we get it.
