Nintendo of Europe has had a chat with two of Metroid Prime: Hunters' game staff, who spill the beans inside...
Kensuke Tanabe, Producer of Metroid Prime Hunters and Richard Vorodi, a game designer at Nintendo's American headquarters in Redmond recently conducted an interview for Nintendo of Europe's official site.
The pair chatted about the different bounty hunters other than Samus who will appear in the game, saying that for the first time they were expanding Samus' universe. Six bounty hunters in total will be in the game, all with complete back-stories.
There is Noxus - a spiritual being who's trying to cleanse the galaxy of evil, Spire - the last of his kind, a rock-based creature, trying to find out the origins of the disappearance of his race. Next up is Kanden, an experimental lab-created creature who escaped, originally designed as an unkillable soldier. The other characters will be revealed in time.
Speaking about the game's multiplayer, the pair said the game would have a big weapons system, with most weapons having primary and secondary functions, and each character being able to use some weapons better than others. The game will not be online, but wireless play allows four players to join in locally from just one cart.
The single player mission will be a little different to the Metroid Prime games on the GameCube. Players will be fully powered from the beginning of the game, so collecting suit upgrades is not necessary. Samus finds herself looking for relics of an alien species that has disappeared, and apparently she's not alone in doing so. While the other games were claustrophobic, and focused on powering up to get through, this game will be about being powerful, surrounded, being the hunter and sometimes the hunted.
When pressed about the powers of the alien relics that Samus is searching for, the pair refused to give any specifics, saying they would be suprises for the players to discover themselves.
