Asked if he thinks Wii U is next-gen Ubisoft's Michel Ancel responded with "not really".
During E3 VideoGamer spoke to Ubisoft's Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman and one of Ubisoft's key personnel, and was asked about Nintendo's newly announced Wii U console. When asked by the interviewer if he felt Wii U was a next-generation console he replied: "Not really. I think Wii U is next-gen in terms of interface."
However, while he doesn't think the Wii U is next-gen he does suggest Microsoft and Sony may be quick to imitate its unique control method in their future consoles:
"I think people are going to copy it, because you've got this mix between tablet, touch screen and big screen big screen and little screen - there are a lot of possibilities. I don't know if Sony will do it, or Microsoft but yes, I think it's a possibility. But I think the main thing is to have this offering new ways to play is very interesting."
Michel Ancel's highly anticipated Beyond Good & Evil 2 was confirmed as being delayed until the next generation of consoles at E3 and it seems Mr. Ancel's comments here suggest that it won't be making its way to Wii U, although that has yet to be confirmed.
