French magazine Les Echos interviewed Yasuhiro Minagawa of Nintendo of Japan about the company's future and the Gamecube successor.

Minagawa stated clearly that Nintendo's Next Gen machine will be available at the same time of the Playstation 3. He said "We arrived eighteen months after Playstation 2. The next time, we will release [our new console] at the same time!"

He also said that Nintendo's consoles never lost any money, unlike Sega's Megadrive/Genesis and Dreamcast. Every year someone predicts the imminent death of former card manufacturer Nintendo, but in fact it is still in the business, while competitors such as Sega, Nec, Bandai and Matsushita left the gaming hardware market.

Minagawa then went on saying "We have more experience than whoever and we are able to create videogame characters like nobody else can."
