Shigeru Miyamoto has claimed that he is looking to release a new Mario title this year.

A Mario title is usually a common element of any Nintendo launch but there has been an absence of Mario games on the 3DS so far. While a logo and a few screenshots from a 3DS Super Mario game were unveiled last month not much else has been said about the title.

Mario's creator and all-around Nintendo personality Shigeru Miyamoto has spoken to Gameblog and stated: "Je vous promets de tout faire pour vous livrer le nouveau Mario cette année !" A quick Google translation (which we are aware is not always 100% accurate) claims that this says:

I promise to do everything to deliver your new Mario this year!

Gameblog promise more information from their exclusive interview with Mr. Miyamoto in the coming days but fans can rest assured that the team at EAD Tokyo are working hard to make sure there will be a Mario title out before we see in 2012.
