Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto is currently close to the top of TIME magazine's online poll...

TIME magazine is running an online poll to allow readers to vote for the world's most influential people, and among the list of well known movie-stars, politicians and terrorists is Nintendo's world-renowned game designing god Shigeru Miyamoto.

As this news item is posted, Shigsy currently sits in a very healthy third position, behind American television personality Stephen Colbert in first place and Bhumibol Adulyadej, King of Thailand in second. Rounding out the top five are Korean pop singer Rain, and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

While it appears to be a fairly serious poll, TIME magazine would be naive to think that having an online poll where Korean pop-stars can be voted above the President of the United States should be taken too seriously. Especially when other sites favourable to entrants can post links encouraging their readers to vote^{*cough*Miyamoto*cough*}.
