News: Miyamoto Discusses New DS App

Shigeru Miyamoto has recently spoken about an upcoming DSi application that lets you share your photos and audio.

In spite of the fact he's pushing 60 Shigeru Miyamoto shows no signs of slowing down. Speaking at an investors meeting recently Mr. Miyamoto refused to give any comments about his current hobbies, for fears it will hint at future development plans, but did unveil a new app for the DSi.

Andriasang reports that Mr. Miyamoto works very hard in his "neighborhood association" and this has worked its way into the newest application. The new app allows anyone with a DSi to "make their own DS download service". Using the handheld's microphone and camera users can capture text and voice samples, edit them, and share these with people around them.

Shigeru Miyamoto gave the example of coffee shops using the app to illustrate the shop's menu and an introduction to the shop itself. While the app wasn't shown it does draw parallels to Nintendo's do-it-yourself navigation system available in many popular places.

Unfortunately in both cases these are just limited to Japan. Hopefully Nintendo will introduce the service to the rest of the world though. Stay tuned for news.
