News: Miyamoto Talks, Confirms Zelda Controls!

Shigeru Miyamoto has chatted to NoE about his recent French knighthood, New Super Mario Bros and finally confirms Zelda: Twilight Princess will take advantage of the Revolution controller!

As you may have heard previously, Shigeru Miyamoto received a ‘Order of Arts and Letters’ (a form of French Knighthood) from French Ministry of Culture. While in France Miyamoto spoke to Nintendo of Europe about several aspects of Nintendo’s future.

Shigeru Miyamoto finally gave complete confirmation that if you do play The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Revolution you will be able to use the control in a unique way, which will be unavailable when you play it on the GameCube. While no details about it were announced, we should expect more concrete details come E3 in May.

Amongst other things Miyamoto also spoke about the highly-anticipated upcoming Mario title for the DS, still called New Super Mario Bros for the time being. Apparently the story won’t be winning any awards, but will see the return of the Koopa Kids who have disappeared since the days of the SNES.

However, what Miyamoto is more excited about is the "unprecedented" gameplay. Mario will be able to perform "ultra super jumps", which will apparently be something very different from past moves. As well as this when Mario uses a Super Giant Mushroom he will be able to increase to such a size that he will fill most of the screen and destroy everything in his path.

For DS owners who enjoy playing multiplayer they will not be disappointed with New Super Mario Bros, as two players can play together as Mario and Luigi. Miyamoto also reported that mini-games that were featured in Super Mario 64 DS will return in New Super Mario Bros and feature multiplayer modes.

Finally, Miyamoto has confirmed that "almost everything" about the Revolution will be confirmed during E3. While it was believed that this would happen anyway, it’s always good to hear Nintendo confirm it. He stated that he is not aware of details such as prices just yet but all the tantalising details will be announced come May.

The interview also discusses a day in the life of Shigeru Miyamoto, how he is perceived as a pop culture icon in gaming and much more. It is only available for members of Nintendo of Europe’s "VIP" scheme, but I’d suspect that would be the majority of our readers.
