News: Miyamoto Talks Wii HD & More...

Miyamoto talked about the rumoured "Wii HD", Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and even augmented reality in a recent interview, head inside for the (lack of) details. In an interview with German TV show 3sat neues the legendary Shigeru Miyamoto commented about the much talked about "Wii HD", here's the transcript of what he had to say:

"I'm afraid we cannot confirm what we are doing today. But the fact of the matter is that technology is evolving all the time and in Japan, for example All the analog broadcast will be stopped and shifted into the digital broadcasting. So many things are taking place and we are working in terms of the changes of the technologies all the time."

When asked if Nintendo would be the first to successfully implement 3D gaming and reality augmenting devices in the market, Miyamoto said:

"Nintendo is always trying to construct the framework in which we can provide... we can be as creative as possible in order to create as new entertainment as possible. And that's what Nintendo has been striving at and that's what Nintendo will be challenging itself once again in order to make unique entertainment opportunity.
But if I can just add my personal opinion: if the new environment requires the player to wear some goggle-style, I really don't have a good impression of that."

Finally, the interviewer asked Miyamoto what was the status of Project H.A.M.M.E.R, the Wii action game that's most likely canned.

"[says he is not part of the development team and really cannot comment] (...) What I can confirm here is that only when Nintendo can become almost certain of the timing of the launch we are able to make the relevant launch announcement of the software."

As usual, not much to go on and no groundbreaking revelation. You can see the whole interview here where Shigeru Miyamoto also talks about Wii Music.
