News: Miyamoto Talks Wii Music

Creator of Wii Music Shigeru Miyamoto discusses the game's rocky fortunes...

One of the most controversial titles this year for some has not been Grand Theft Auto or Manhunt, but Wii Music. Is it for 'causal' gamers or 'core' gamers? Does this matter? Is it even a game? Critical and fan reaction to the title has certainly been mixed.

Speaking to GameInformer, Miyamoto has given some insight into how and why Wii Music turned out like it did. Calling the sales so far "not too bad", Shigsy has said that he knew the game would be more of a longer lasting slow-burner of a game - not one selling thousands straight out of the gate.

In his own opinion, Miyamoto is happy with the end result, despite it being so different from many other music games now on the market. What he wanted to develop, he says, was a game that focused less on creating a perfect reproduction of the original song and more on users creating their own unique interpretation.
