Legendary Nintendo game designer Shigeru Miyamoto has topped this year's TIME poll of the world's most influential people!

Designer of some of Nintendo's most beloved titles, and the creator of Nintendo mascots such as Mario and Donkey Kong, Shigeru Miyamoto has been voted the year's most influential person in the annual TIME magazine poll.

He received more than two million votes, beating second place Korean singer Rain by over 300,000 votes, and American comedian Stepehen Colbert by over 1,000,000.
