News: Monster Hunter 3DS Eats up Japan

3DS continues to runs rampant in the homeland...

3DS is reaching scary new heights in Japan, as confirmed by the latest weekly charts from Media Create.

This week was the turn of the long-awaited latest entry of the hottest franchise in Japan: Monster Hunter 3 G. Nintendo securing the once-PlayStation-exclusive franchise for its new handheld was seen as a major coup, and it's not difficult to see why. The game easily sold through and beyond its rumoured initial shipment of 420k-500k, with many stores emptied of stock after the first day. It will be interesting to see how sales go for future weeks, but for now, only a fool would be against it reaching Capcom's target of 1.2 million by the end of March.

Nintendo themselves had plenty to celebrate too, with first party titles across both 3DS and Wii riding high on holiday sales. The software chart for the week of December 5th to 11th is as follows.
