News: More eShop Titbits

GameSpot has provided some more facts about the impending eShop update.

Following yesterday's announcement that outlined the software update that will see the 3DS eShop released, amongst other things, GameSpot has compiled an FAQ that outlines some new information.

When the update is released on June 7th it will be 50MB in size. Additionally they reveal that the search option is actually surprisingly in-depth. As well as standard searches you will be able to search by popular phrases other users have used to search, or search for genres and characters and even keep track of titles by adding them to a wishlist.

The eShop will also display charts showing the most popular games, the most downloaded, the most watched and other similar trends all designed to help you make an informed purchasing decision.

There is a retail section of the eShop whereby you can view information about the games and view 3D screenshots and videos as well as also rating titles, providing you have played them for at least an hour.

Nintendo has also included virtual shelves that can be themed, so for example there could be a shelf dedicated to Mario titles or seasonal games. One confirmed shelf so far is a 'Staff Pick' one, in which they are currently recommending Cave Story.

Expect more information about the service in the next few days before its official launch on June 7th.
