Akitoshi Kawazu, the producer of Square Enix properties such as the SaGa series and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles was recently interviewed by Japanese website Gpara.com. In the interview, Kawazu mentions that he can't speak about what he is working on because he's getting ready for the Tokyo Game Show and to look forward to it.
Before you go getting those hopes up too high, Kawazu did not mention what system the game he is working on will appear for, nor whether it will be new or a continuation of an existing series. Nor did Game Designers Studio, which worked on Crystal Chronicles, enter the discussion. Still, that doesn't automatically mean the game isn't for the Cube. There have been rumors that Kawazu has specifically been working on a GameCube title, but we'll just have to wait and see.
We'll stick with this one and let you know more as soon as we do. The Tokyo Game Show will be held from September 24th-26th, with the final two days open to the public.
