News: Nacho Libre Heading To DS

The upcoming Jack Black film Nacho Libre is to inspire a mayhem filled wrestling title for your favourite dual-screened console!

Majesco Entertainment and Paramount Pictures have teamed up to bring the outrageous Nacho Libre to the DS. Based on the upcoming film starring Jack Black, the title will offer fans comedic wrestling mayhem exaggerated moves, wacky props and lots of pratfalls, all delivered in a unique 'photo puppetry' visual style.

"We're proud to announce the first Nintendo DS wrestling game for the US and European markets," said Ken Gold , vice president of Marketing, Majesco Entertainment. "Nacho Libre is the perfect movie to translate into a handheld experience and our game captures all of the humorous wrestling action from the film."

The film opens in America on June 16, followed by a release in Europe country-by-country from late July onwards. Jack Black stars as Nacho, a cook by day in a Mexican orphanage who moonlights as a Lucha Libre wrestler to raise money for the orphans. The film is from the creators of "Napoleon Dynamite" and the writer of "The School of Rock."

In the game, players can play as Nacho or more than 10 other luchadors, all with their own unique abilities. The game also features a range of over-the-top wrestling attacks, four play modes, themed Touch Screen mini-games, 4 player wireless matches and numerous arenas from the movie in which players can battle to be the ultimate Luchador.

Developed by Budcat Creations, Nacho Libre will be available across the pond in October, and we expect a European release not long after. More as we get it!
