News: Namco Consider Wii-Arcade Linking

The arcade veterans are looking into ways in which they can link the Wii up to future arcade units.
Poor Namco. The years haven't been kind to the arcade, and we've seen the popularity of the games which effectively pioneered gaming dwindle into submission recently. Namco even publicly blamed the Wii last month for the decline of the arcade, as the Wii Remote can be used to simulate most arcade games (including the recent Ghost Squad).
However, it seems that Namco Bandai have opted to work with their main obstacle rather than against it. A report from Asahi.com has revealed that Namco are considering several arcade titles which will link and share data between the Wii and arcade units, which will most likely be done using the Wii Remote's ability to store small amounts of data.
A similar technique was employed in F-Zero AX, which allowed content sharing when a GameCube memory card with a save file of F-Zero GX was inserted into the unit. Perhaps we'll see more joint arcade ventures between Nintendo and Namco in the future?
