News: Namco Shows Profits

Namco has released profit figures for the first 3 quarters of the fiscal year 2003.

Namco have achieved a profit lower than their overall projections -which has been attributed to poor sales of titles outside of Japan, despite most home-territory sales performing extremely well.

For the company, 6.6 billion yen profit was the good news for last year on a total turnover of 134.6 billion yen! The big numbers were principally thanks to Taiko no Tatsujin and Baten Kaitos. Rather surprisingly, R:Racing ranked up with the most profitable, despite having been knocked down to a discount price by most retailers.

The bad news for the company is that the territories outside of Japan were the ones that brought the forecasts down. Singled out by the company were I-Ninja and Spawn as the underachievers in the USA.
