Need for Speed Carbon (Wii)

News: Need For Speed Carbon Controls Revealed

Including alternative control schemes...

When the Wii-mote was revealed, a big worry for many gamers was that third party developers and publishers would be wary of trying anything different, as far as control schemes go anyway. Luckily, EA are putting their money where their mouth is and are trying something different with Need For Speed Carbon.

In a style similar to Excite Truck, turning the controller on its side and using the two buttons "1" and "2" will brake and accelerate, respectively. This really isn't anything new, as we have stated earlier, this is pretty similar to Nintendo's Excite Truck.

However, EA have also gone on to create two more additional control methods, using both the Wii-mote and Nunchuk attachment:

In the first one, you rotate the nunchuk left and right to steer, and tilt the Wii remote forwards or backwards from a 45-degree position to accelerate or brake, respectively. For both the second and third alternatives, you hold the Wii remote at a 90 degree angle and tilt it forward to accelerate, while using the Z-button on the nunchuk to brake. The difference is that in the second alternative, you rotate the nunchuk to steer; in the third, you steer with the nunchuk's analog stick.

It's always fascinating to see how third parties are approaching the control scheme when developing titles for Wii. We welcome the change, as it adds more variation for the gamer. Multiple control schemes are the way to go, people!
