News: Need For Speed Returns

Electronic Arts announced today that Need For Speed will be returning to GameCube in the newest incarnation of the racing series, Need For Speed Underground.

Electronic Arts revealed today that Need For Speed Underground is in development at Black Box. The title, which will appear on GameCube, Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance, sees the player earning cash in nightly street competitions in order to buy the modifications to build the car of their dreams.

The racing title is a fully licensed affair with 20 fully customisable licensed cars from Mitsubishi, Subaru, Toyota, and other manufacturers. The extra parts and modifications are also licensed, with Audiobahn, DC Sports, Jackson Racing, and StreetGlow lending their name to the title. Need For Speed is set to ship early 2004 and, as always, we will keep you posted.
