News: New DS Details

The latest issue of Nintendo Power in America has revealed a few interesting titbits about the DS and upcoming games.

The newest edition of American magazine Nintendo Power has a feature all about the DS. Their discussions of the DS' online plans largely reflect the speech Iwata gave recently. However, there are a few new details.

Nintendo have teamed up with GameSpy to deliver a free world-wide network for gamers. GameSpy are to deliver development kits to developers before E3 to help get the ball rolling. They also state that converting wireless multiplayer titles to ones that can be used for the internet should be easy, so a wave of internet games should be available before the end of the year.

As well as all of this new details about games, and a few new games, have been revealed.

Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings
Majesco's turn-based strategy game will allow for 2-4 player options, but it is unknown if this is internet or local play.

Zoo Tycoon
This title, based on the PC game, is a newly announced one. According to the developers the touch screen will play a large part in Zoo Tycoon.

Shogun Warrior
Namco's title is the first RTS for the Nintendo DS. Mini-games will see way to skirmishes, sea battles, duels, and sieges. As well as this a 16-player wireless mode will be available.

Snowboard Kids DS
This title will see the return of those lovable kids who like snowboarding. The developers have spent a lot of time analysing the previous two titles and decided to put more focus on tricks with speed and shot rewards. The games graphical style will also be somewhat more different, with a slicker art style being implemented.

Katamari Damacy
No information was be released about this title.
