News: New MadCatz Controllers

MadCatz brings gamers with smaller hands the MircoCON controllers.

Mad Catz Interactive today announced the launch of its new line of MicroCON products, commencing with MicroCON controllers designed for each gaming platform.

The MicroCON controllers for Xbox, GameCube and PlayStation(R)2 (also compatible with PlayStation(R) and PS one(TM)) will be available for $24.99, $14.99 and $19.99 respectively. All products will be in stores throughout the U.S. beginning September 2002.

Mad Catz developed its MicroCON controllers, to make the product more user-friendly for gamers with smaller hands and to provide greater comfort and control for all gamers. The controllers are approximately twenty-percent (20%) smaller than the current controllers on the market. Players can now enjoy all of the same features and functionality of Mad Catz' standard controllers in a smaller size, including fully analog pressure-sensitive action buttons and D-pad, dual analog joysticks, macro programmability for complex moves (for Xbox and PlayStation 2), and highly-tactile rubberized grips to reduce fatigue and improve handling.

"Since introducing its MicroCON controllers at E3, Mad Catz has received rave reviews for developing an extremely comfortable solution for younger gamers and gamers who favor a more compact controller" said Darren Richardson, President and COO of Mad Catz. "Since the smaller MicroCON controllers share the same features as the standard controllers for which Mad Catz is famous, they are perfect for gamers who want to remain competitive."

Other features of the MicroCON controllers include two expansion bays for memory cards or other game enhancers (for Xbox) and built-in dual vibration motors for a more pronounced, realistic gaming experience. For added comfort and durability, both the MicroCON for PlayStation 2 and GameCube have an eight-foot braided cable and the MicroCON for Xbox features a nine-foot braided cable.
