Nintendo of Europe have hired a new Marketing Manager for the GBA.

NINTENDO OF EUROPE ANNOUNCES NEW GAME BOY ADVANCE EUROPEAN MARKETING MANAGER (15 October 2002) Nintendo, the world's leading games company, have announced today that it is expanding its marketing department with the appointment of a European Marketing Manager for the highly successful handheld console Game Boy Advance. Effective immediately, Tim Freystedt, 30, will join Nintendo of Europe to handle all elements of marketing and sales concerning the Game Boy Advance, the worlds biggest selling games console, bringing with him over three years of European brand management experience.

Prior to joining Nintendo, Freystedt was European Brand Manager at UNILEVER based in Hamburg, Germany. In this capacity, he worked at the European Innovation Centre for personal care products such as Dove and LUX and was responsible for the highly successful re-launch of international soap brand LUX, the product range which consisted of over 15 different products. This senior brand management role also incorporated overseeing development, production and marketing of a number of brand portfolios as well as development of European above and below the line activities.

In his role at Nintendo, Freystedt will be responsible for all pan- European marketing activities across 18 countries for Game Boy Advance and will co-ordinate the top-line strategy across advertising, promotions, direct marketing, online and retail. His direction in this new role will continue to drive the huge success of Game Boy Advance as the fastest selling hand hold console ever, having sold over 4 million units in Europe since launch. In the immediate future Freystedt will handle forthcoming high profile game launches for Nintendo such as Metroid Fusion whilst offering brand support to highly anticipated 3rd party launches including Tomb Raider and FIFA 2003.
