News: New Nintendo News!

New Nintendo news now! No, not NOT now -- Now! Nearly near, not near now. No? Now! news! New Ninty news now.

What you just read was me taking 'It' too far. Anyway... Nintendo's PR department has been letting slip a few key details about their Big Plans, as reported by Nintendo Dream magazine.

  • The TV commercial for "Pikmin 2" remains top secret. It's likely to become a hot topic, though.
  • You'll be able to play Nintendo DS at E3. Also we'll be announcing a bunch of new titles for GC and GBA.
  • There will also be a number of announcements of GC and GBA software before E3.
  • NDS is such a completely different product to the GBA that it won't have an effect on GBASP sales. The way to play NDS is fundamentally different, so it will give gamers a totally different kind of experience.
  • The reasone we are making the NDS is to give everyone a chance to try something new. We are confident that here at Nintendo we can continue to improve portable gaming.
  • Miyamoto has received a request from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC to attend a panel discussion about "Video games' cultural significance."
  • We are still preparing for E3, so we cannot yet say whether we are holding Space World this year.
  • "Zelda 4 Swords+" is perfectly playable by one person.
  • We currently have no fixed plan to publish another Nintendo Book.
  • The commercials for the new Kirby game will be running from 13 March.
  • A lot of older people have been buying Famicom Mini games. Also, people who have been playing Famicom Mini have bought a lot of the recent GBA releases. We get the feeling the Famicom Mini series has reignited some old gaming flames (laughs). We really believe it was a good thing we released the series.
  • The reason for only allowing one Pokemon save per cartridge is we want you to look after it carefully. For example, if we allow you to save more than one game, it becomes too "convenient" and a lot of the excitement may be removed from the game.
  • The Club Nintendo GBASP body colour change programme has been extremely popular. For that reason, the original schedule of "2 week return" which we announced on our website, is gradually becoming impossible to fulfil.

So there we have it -- New GBA and GC games still to be announced before E3, and Nintendo admitting that the Famicom is really pushing sales for Ninty... Stay tuned to c-e for any further info!
