News: New Wii Shop Channel Downloadables

We're joined this week by a barber, a ninja and... a map?

It's that time of the week once more ladies and gentlemen, as the Wii Shop Channel gets a hefty load of software dropped upon it from the gaming gods in the sky. This week Nintendo are offering you one title from the Virtual Console, one brand spanking new WiiWare title and an oddity in the form of a DSiWare application.

First up this week, we have the Mega Drive title The Revenge Of Shinobi hitting the Virtual Console for 800 Points. In the sequel to Shinobi, the game has you playing as Joe Musashi, a ninja seeking revenge for the death of his teacher. You'll need to travel through 8 worlds of increasing difficulty to do so using an array of ninjitsu weapons and techniques available to you, including shurikens and somersaults. Look out for our review of the game in the upcoming VC Weekly!

Secondly this week we have the very strange Bonsai Barber from Zoonami. Up for 1000 Points, this peculiar game has you trimming away the extreme hairdos of various fruit and vegetable characters (yes, you read that right) in order to earn money. The better the haircut, the better the pay check. You can earn up to 5 stars for each hairdo using tools such as the scissors, trimmer and comb. You can send photos of your success - or distress - stories to your friends via Wifi connection.

Finally this week we have something slightly different up for grabs. City Transport Map Volumes 1 & 2 - 2009 is available from DSiWare for 500 Points. Surprisingly deep for a map application, this nifty little piece of software allows you to operate as standard as far as maps are concerned, helping you find your way through major European cities not only by foot but by trains, subways and other public transport. On top of that, it allows you to pin a handwritten note to any location on the map, and even take a picture with the DSi's camera to attach to a location. Finally, this might package also has a built in route quiz for you to test out your knowledge of the surrounding area.

Do you plan on picking any of this weeks offerings up? Don't forget to look out for VC Weekly later this week for our review of The Revenge Of Shinobi!
