The North American instruction manual for the Nintendo 3DS states that glasses, beards and fringes may be problematic.
The Nintendo 3DS features facial recognition software in titles such as Nintendogs + Cats but the North American instruction manual for the console suggests there may be some limitations in what type of faces it recognises.
Kotaku report that the manual states that fringes (bangs) covering your eyebrows and glasses will get in the way of the camera's ability to read your face. Hair colour and beards may also be an issue to the console as well as other "facial and hair decorations".
Nintendo could be airing on the side of caution but we have no doubt many hairy gamers will be testing this out when they get their 3DS consoles.
